mixed media art by Vivien M. Reh
Born and raised in Seattle and currently based in Portland, Vivien Reh is a painter and multimedia artist known for her vibrant use of color and experimental fusing of digital and physical elements. Over the past several years, Vivien has created a living body of work which is reflective of her home and emotional process. Like the Northwest region of the United States, her work is an expression of the middle ground between the natural world and the post-analog world of the digital revolution.
Vivien’s early work features acrylic paint, pressed flowers, and epoxy. However, her focus has shifted towards applying and digesting physical media in digital animation, music videos, and glitch photography. Her most recent endeavor has been the creation of pixelart for 2-dimensional virtual reality games. Though her work is continually evolving to incorporate new techniques and technologies, the reuse of materials and imagery leaves the viewer with a cohesive sense of the artist’s sentimentality and drive to make sense of coexisting and contradictory forces in contemporary art.
